BSB bosses introduce mandatory brake lever guards

Front brake lever guards will become mandatory in this year's MCE British Superbike Championship and all support classes.

Series bosses have introduced the regulation to prevent any further Tommy Hill-esque accidents where the front brake is jammed on, resulting in a stoppie that evolves into something Tom Daley would be proud of.

The series will also alter its flag signals to fall into line with the FIM:

Yellow and Red Striped Flag

The adhesion on this section of the track could be affected by any reason other than rain. This flag must be shown motionless at the flag marshal post.

White Flag with diagonal red cross

Drops of rain on this section of the track. This flag must be shown motionless at the flag marshal post.

White Flag with diagonal red cross + Yellow and Red Striped Flag

Rain on this section of the track. These flags must be shown together motionless at the flag marshal post.

Red flag with diagonal white cross

Shown motionless at each flag marshal post, the race is

neutralised. Riders must slow down and be prepared to catch up a safety car. Riders must line up in single file behind it. It is forbidden for a rider to overtake another rider during the display of this flag. Overtaking the safety car is not allowed unless the rider immediately following the safety car is shown a green light.
