Bradley Ray maintained his unbroken run of pole positions for the 2025 British Superbike Championship [BSB] as he powered to the top spot in qualifying at Knockhill, Round 4 of the season.
The dominant force of the year thus far, Ray - who arrives in Scotland with seven wins from eight starts in 2025 - hit the front with a 47.393secs lap early on before holding firm for the remainder of the session.
Indeed, he’d waste no time in establishing the benchmark, Ray’s nearest rival of Kyle Ryde being almost two tenths adrift around the shortest circuit on the calendar.
It wasn’t a faultless session by the 2022 BSB Champion though, Ray laying down his Raceways Yamaha at the low speed Taylors hairpin, albeit without consequence.
In second, Ryde recovered from having to make it through Q1 to place his OMG Nitrous Yamaha onto the front row. This was despite the defending champion completing just a single flying lap all session.
Indeed, with spots of rain during the latter minutes blunting any hope of last minute flyers, Rory Skinner put on a good show for the Scottish fans with his run to third on the Cheshire Mouldings Ducati.
Heading up row two, Josh Brookes was the highest-placed Honda rider on the DAO Racing Fireblade, ahead of Storm Stacey, who continued to lead BMW’s challenge having been quickest of all in the wet on Friday.
Despite coming into the weekend with precious little track time on the Hager PBM, WorldSBK regular and 2019 BSB Champion Scott Redding put in a fine performance to grab sixth place in the closing stages of the session.
The 2020 WorldSBK runner-up races in Knockhill this weekend as a deputy for the injured Glenn Irwin before he returns to his regular ride on the international stage at Donington Park next weekend.
Having joined Ryde and Redding in making it through from Q1, Charlie Nesbitt gets underway from seventh place, ahead of Tommy Bridewell on the factory Honda and Lee Jackson on the second of the DAO Hondas, while Danny Kent rounds out the top ten.
Prior to Q2, there was disappointment for local rider John McPhee - making his first appearance on Scottish soil as a BSB rider - as a fall at McIntyre early on downed his hopes of progressing out of Q1.
The Moto3 World Championship race winner will get underway in 17th place, just behind Scott Swann, while Max Cook was another big name to fall short down in 18th. Richard Kerr and Billy McConnell complete the top twenty.
