Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne is still not a fan of the British Superbike Showdown final stages, saying he believes it puts too much pressure on the riders.
Byrne, who heads the championship table by nine points from Josh Brookes, was very vocal on the subject last year after he fell foul of the three-round title sprint and re-iterated that at Silverstone.
“The Showdown is great for the fans but maybe it puts unfair pressure on the riders as it leaves all to play for over the last three rounds – I am not a massive fan of it. We have to race on the absolute edge but we also have to take care not to make mistakes and that makes the Showdown extremely difficult," said Byrne, who goes into the Brands finale as favourite to win at his home track
“You say they last three races are on my home circuit but that is a bit of crap as everyone races there as much as me – the good thing is it is only 30 minutes drive from home to Brands Hatch and it is my favourite track, but I have to look out for Alex Lowes as he is going strong.”
