Kyle Ryde has claimed back-to-back victories as he won the opening race of the weekend at Thruxton.

The reigning British Superbike Champion, Kyle Ryde, returned to the top step of the podium as he claimed victory in the first race of the weekend at Thruxton.

On the final lap of the race, Danny Kent made his way into second place but was unable to challenge Ryde and crossed the line behind his fellow Yamaha rider.

For the first time this season, Max Cook has featured on a British Superbike podium as he finished in third place for the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki squad.

The Honda Racing UK duo of Tommy Bridewell and Andrew Irwin ended the first race of the weekend in fourth and fifth. After challenging for the podium in the early laps, the Honda riders dropped back in the latter laps.

Charlie Nesbitt and the MasterMac Honda squad ran at the front of the race in the opening laps, but dropped back to sixth place as the race progressed.

Christian Iddon was another rider who looked to be in the fight for a podium or even a race win, but ended up crossing the line in seventh place on the Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

British Superbike Championship leader, Bradley Ray, had a poor start to the three races this weekend as he ended Race One in eighth place.

Completing the top ten were the two top Ducati riders of Leon Haslam and Rory Skinner, on the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing machine and the Cheshire Mouldings Ducati.
