CN Racing's Danny Buchan has admitted to being blown away after the first test of the Ten Kate Racing-prepared Honda Fireblade he will campaign in this year's Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship.
Buchan travelled to Cartagena in southern Spain for the test and shared the track with the WFR Honda BSB team so was able to gauge the differences between the two different specification levels. The team's test was marred slightly by crashes from Superstock 600 teamsters Josh Day and Andy Reid, the latter breaking his femur.
“I’m so happy now I’ve had time out on the Ten Kate bike, you spend all winter hoping you’ve made the right decision but never really knowing how you’re going to click with the bike but almost as soon as I started lapping I knew we’d chosen right . The Honda seems to suit my riding style, you can bang it in hard into the turn and get on the gas real early- its so forgiving and very, very rideable, I’m blown away with it to be honest," said Buchan.
"Having just a few guys out on track made it good for concentrating on doing your own thing and how the bike reacts, it’s been a great test and we have another two events to come out here, it’s such a great schedule. I love the Öhlins suspension, I’ve never used it before, it has so much adjustability and we can play around with it some more to increase tyre life. Bad luck to Andy, we’re going to see him again in the hospital later and hopefully he can bounce back soon.”
