Buchan to partner Walker in BSB 2013

Bournemouth Kawasaki have today unveiled Danny Buchan as the rider who will partner Chris Walker in the MCE British Superbike series for 2013.

Veteran racer Walker is the oldest rider in the paddock and his team mate is the youngest, but Walker admits that even after an amazing year with the Bournemouth Kawasaki team in 2012, which saw him win his first race in twelve years at Oulton Park, he is looking forward to next year, racing alongside his new team-mate.

“Kawasaki have been so strong this year, with wins with Shane Byrne in BSB, and it was great to be part of the Kawasaki success story. The fact I am going to be doing it with the team next year is even better. The team is going to be even stronger next year. I have a young team-mate who is going to keep me sharp for sure. I am the oldest and he’s the youngest on the grid, I am the shortest he is the tallest. We may have a few issues setting the bikes up, but hopefully I will be able to beat him on the Sundays," said Walker.

British and World Superbikes race winner Walker is happy that Buchan is his teammate and could not have wished for a better rider to share his garage with next year.

“He is a great lad and a star of the future. In our team he will grow even faster and I think he will get to the front even faster too. With a good winter testing under his belt he will be in the top five and top six and will be chasing us down for the Showdown, and I have great hopes for him.”

Nineteen-year-old Danny Buchan joins the team after making his debut in the Championship this season. The former British National Superstock 1000 rider can not wait to challenge for the British Superbike title in his first full year racing in the competition.

“I am very excited and can’t wait to go out there and have a go on the bike. I have learnt heaps this year, and I have only done a hand full of races in British Superbikes, but the amount I have learnt already is brilliant and with Chris’s experience and everyone at Bournemouth it is definitely going to be a good year.”

“Realistically I would like to make it to the Showdown stages in the championship, it is down to myself to see how fast I can go, but I would like to win and beat Shakey.” Buchan added.
