BURNS RE-SIGNS FOR STP MV AGUSTA IN SUPERBIKE CUP

Former MotoGP rider Chris Burns will rejoin the STP Motorsport squad for another year in the British Superbike Cup championship, and will be joined by youngster Victor Cox.

Last season showed glimpses of the potential of the iconic MV Agusta F4 1000 and Burns is keen to take advantage of the winter development programme undertaken by the team’s development partner JHS Racing. Chris will bring is years of experience at British, European and World Championship level to bear to help put the MV Agusta back to the top level of motorcycle racing.

“It’s been a long winter and, while I have been working hard in the gym, I really want to get back to some serious testing,” said Burns. “We can then confirm just what improvements have been made to the bike since last year.

"From what I have been told the MV Agusta will be unrecognisable from last year both in terms of increased power and reduced weight, so it sounds very positive, bring it on.

“With the level of competition in the Superbike cup this season having a teammate like Vic will make life a lot easier in terms of finding settings for the bike.

"With Vic almost being a part of the furniture at STP it should all run like clockwork, and I cannot see it being too long before we get an MV Agusta 1-2 on the cup podium. And put in a serious challenge for consistent points in the main championship.”
