Despite putting in a brace of top-five results at the final round of last year's MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, Barry Burrell is still hunting for a ride.
The Bishop Auckland rider, who backed up a sixth place in the first Kent outing with a fifth and then a fourth, thought he had secured a seat in the premier class but due to last-minute sponsorship problems, he is back to square one.
"I finished the year strongly with Buildbase BMW and hoped I had done enough to secure a ride for the 2013 season. But with a last-minute sponsor problem just after Christmas, I am now back to square one and looking for a seat in Superbikes," said Burrell, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.
"There are some very good opportunities in Superbikes, and with a good team it would be perfect but I need a sponsor to help fund it. If I can't make that happen, then I would like to be on a competitive Superstock 1000 or Supersport bike and carry on where I left off at Brands."
