Cadwell BSB: Assen the target for crocked Smrz

Millsport Ducati’s Jakub Smrz is targeting Assen to make a return to the MCE British Superbike championship, after breaking his wrist in two places, after a free practice crash at Cadwell Park on Saturday.

The former World Superbike contender is going back to his native Czech Republic to have his wrist plated and to undergo an operation. The next round at Donington is ‘impossible’ for the rider, but hasn’t ruled out making his come back at Assen – a track he knows well from his World Championship days.

“I am still in a lot of pain with my wrist, but the hospital in Hull have  bandaged and plastered it up for me, but I am going home to have an operation on the wrist,” said Smrz, speaking to bikesportnews.com from the circuit.

“Donington is going to be impossible for me, but my target is Assen, and hopefully the operation will be a success and I can take part at a track I really enjoy. Assen suits my riding style and that is the goal in my head. But if I can’t make it to Assen, then Silverstone is definitely my next target.”
