CADWELL BSB: CAMIER CRUISES TO RACE ONE WIN

Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier cruised to victory in the first British Superbike race at Cadwell Park this afternoon, crossing the line more than seven seconds in front of Hydrex Honda's Stuart Easton.

The Kent youngster hit the front of the pack on lap four and promptly cleared off, setting fastest lap after fastest lap leaving Easton, the second Airwaves Yamaha of James Ellison and Relentless Suzuki's Ian Lowry to scrap it out for the podium.

Off the line, Confused.com Kawasaki's Simon Andrews looked to have got the holeshot from the outside of the front row but Easton swept across his nose into Coppice and was followed by Camier one lap later.

Andrews was back past the Yamaha with a cheeky move into the hairpin but the Evesham man couldn't keep Camier behind him and he was demoted back to third at Charlie's on lap two.

Camier went past Easton into Charlie's on lap four while Ellison was crawling all over the rear of Andrews, who got onto the grass at the back of the Lincolnshire track which allowed the Kendal man and Lowry through.

It was then a three-man dice for the podium as Andrews fell back into the clutches of his team-mate Julien Da Costa while Camier put a second a lap into the field.

On lap nine, Ellison has a look at passing Easton into the Chicane but couldn't make it stick and then almost got pinged out of the seat a lap later when he got on the power early out of Mansfield, trying to get drive to go past on the brakes into the Chicane.

It wasn't to be, though, as every time Ellison tried a pass into the Gooseneck, Easton shut the door. With seven laps to go, the Scotsman had to defend his line so tightly, he caught his right knee slider in the grass.

Easton crossed the line a quarter of second in front of Ellison while Lowry, who had been sitting being the battling pair waiting for one of them to make a mistake, settled for his best result of the year in fourth.

Andrews just kept ahead of Da Costa for fifth place while HM Plant Honda's Karl Muggeridge managed to fight his way through the pack to take seventh in front of the returning Sylvain Guintoli and John Laverty in ninth, who will be disappointed to fade that far back from his front-row starting position.

Quay Garage Honda's Gary Mason took tenth spot and was the first of Superbike Cup runners home, with NB Suzuki's Tommy Bridewell in second and Peter Hickman third. Karl Harris will not be happy with his performance, finishing in 15th place.
