Cadwell BSB: Farmer extends his Superstock 600 lead

Irishman Keith Farmer continues to lead the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship, picking up a valuable second place as his closest challenger Conor Behan only managed sixth which took some pressure off the youngster.

The Clogher rider has dominated the top spot and been the rider to beat this year. So far he has grabbed four wins in total and almost claimed his fifth this weekend, but due to missing a gear before running onto the grass it was successful damage limitation to pick up the 20 points. This was in addition to a crash in free practice earlier in the weekend that caused some ligament damage, but clearly there was no stopping him and a well deserved fifth season podium.

Farmer said: “I got good starts both times. On the second re-start I was fourth away, then I got Blackshaw for third place and caught East and Irwin. I tried to pull a gap but I hit a false neutral at the foot of the mountain so ended up on the grass. That is when I lost the lead. I’ve still got a 36 point lead so I’m happy enough. I’m testing tomorrow on the Paul Bird Kawasaki before we go to the Nurburgring. I can’t wait to get there; I’ve been learning the track on my PlayStation.”

Before he returns back on track in the British Series, Farmer will be competing again, and for the remainder of, the European Superstock 1000 series, for the Paul Bird Motorsport Kawasaki team on which he debuted at Silverstone a few weeks ago; successfully and impressively finishing just outside the points in 16th place.
