Buildbase BMW’s Ryuichi Kiyonari couldn’t match the pace of his rival Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki’s Shane Byrne during the MCE British Superbike qualifying session at Cadwell Park, but still did enough to make it on the front row – now a good start is the key for the triple champ tomorrow.
The Japanese rider has never been outside the top three fastest times all weekend, and even though he has been setting the pace with his laps, he admits he still gets nervous during the qualifying sessions.
“Qualifying is not my very favourite thing, as I get nervous and I can’t push very hard. I am happy with second position and I saw Shakey’s lap time and there is a big gap between us, but I will try my best," said Kiyonari.
But my qualifying this weekend is much better than at the last round, but I am still not as fast as Byrne, so a good start is what’s needed tomorrow."
