Cadwell BSB: Gowland closes in on team-mate Richards

WFR Honda's Graeme Gowland took antother bite out of team-mate Glen Richards' lead in the British Superbike Evo series table at the weekend but the Aussie still looks to have it wrapped up with a 113-point lead.

Former Spanish Supersport Champion Gowland took two wins and a third from the Cadwell Park meeting, and was far and away the fastest Evo rider over three races but the lack of traction control saw him unable to mount a serious challenge for big points.

“I got a really good starts in both of Monday’s races and got away with the full spec boys but then without the traction control the tyres were sliding around a little bit towards the end of each race but I finished inside the top ten in both races so I’m really happy with that. I must thank all the WFR team for their hard work throughout the weekend in helping me achieve these results," said the Bishop Auckland man.

Richards, meanwhile, was very self-deprecating about the weekend: "I didn’t quite have the pace today and found it a little bit frustrating I’ll be honest. I don’t think it was the bike, it’s more me, so I take nothing away from the boys they’ve done really well all weekend.

“We’re off to Donington and Silverstone next which are tracks I really enjoy so hopefully we can improve a little bit, but keeping one eye still on the championship we have scored a few points today which is great.”
