Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill won the third and final British Superbike race at Cadwell Park this afternoon, giving his team all three available victories over the weekend but Josh Brookes spoiled their run of one-two finishes by passing Michael Laverty on the penultimate lap.
Hill and Laverty have dominated proceedings since first practice on Saturday, taking one-two finishes ahead of HM Plant Honda's Shane Byrne in the first two outings. The former champion had to settle for fourth in the last race of the day after he couldn't quite make his way past Laverty.
The Swan pair were away at the front, swapping places through the Hairpin before Hill finally got the better of his team-mate and put a gap into the Toomebridge man. Brookes held a watching brief until Laverty made a slight error on the exit of the Mansfield chicane and powered past for second.
Byrne had no reply to either the Suzuki or the Yamaha, so rolled across the line in fourth but the Honda man made an uncharacteristic error early on and went straight on through the chicane, re-joining the track in fourth place.
Tyco Honda's Peter Hickman rode another fantastic race to finish in fifth and only a second behind the factory Honda man while Samsung Suzuki's Jon Kirkham bagged sixth ahead of Ryuichi Kiyonari who did just enough to make the top six and complete the Showdown runners.
Rapid Ducati's Martin Jessopp rode another solid race to finish in eighth with first Evo runner Graeme Gowland in ninth and James Ellison's Sorrymate.com Honda rounding out the top ten. Tommy Bridewell was 11th and Gary Mason 12th while Scott Smart, who dedicated his Evo podium to Ben Gautrey, in 13th. Glen Richards was the third Evo man home while Karl Harris rounded out the top 15.
