Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill has done the MCE British Superbike double at Cadwell Park with a relatively simply victory in the second race, crossing the line two seconds ahead of Josh Brookes with fellow Showdown rival Michael Laverty in third.
Samsung Honda's Laverty led the way until half-distance when Hill decided he'd seen enough of the Fireblade's rear wheel and went past into the 120mph Coppice and promptly cleared off, very much like he did in the first race earlier.
The scrap for second place was left to Laverty, Brookes and WFR Honda's Alex Lowes after Brookes got off to a slow start and had to use a lot of tyre to close the gap on the front three.
The Australian, who could only muster sixth in race one, then set about Lowes first of all at the Hairpin for third and then put the same move on Laverty with 14 laps gone and wasn't headed again. Lowes, meanwhile, took fourth and has a six-point lead over Ian Lowry for the final Showdown spot.
Supersonic BMW's Tommy Bridewell looks safe in fifth with a 17-point lead over Lowes and the chances of Noriyuki Haga riding at Donington Park looking somewhere between slim and none.
James Westmoreland got the better of Lowry in the late stages, bagging sixth place with Peter Hickman passed karl Harris late on for eighth. Michael Rutter rounded out the top ten. His Bathams Kawasaki team-mate Danny Buchan crashed out of a top-five place early on.
