Swan Yamaha's Michael Laverty secured his spot in the British Superbike Showdown with his first-race win at Cadwell Park yesterday and starts today's double-header on pole with only podium credits to worry about.
The Irishman was in front of team-mate Tommy Hill when the race was stopped due to rain and in picking up the 25 points made sure he couldn't be overtaken in the points table.
"I am feeling pretty happy with the win as it is good for my championship and to consolidate the position in the top six for the Showdown. I got off to a good start and was able to set the pace but I did make a few mistakes and knew that Tommy was close behind me. The Swan Yamaha was working well and we have more to come. I think it was the right call to stop the race when it started to rain in places," said the Toomebridge man.
