Cadwell BSB: Mainwaring Smart’s team in a race against time

Tsingtao WKbikes rider Howie Mainwaring Smart is looking to put his MCE British Superbike qualifying behind him after experiencing a puncture and handlebar issues which prevented him from getting out of Q1. The rider is with his new team for the remaining rounds and his crew were in a race against time to get the bike ready for Cadwell Park, as a lot of changes had to be made to the Kawasaki from the last round at Oulton Park.

Mainwaring Smart, who has the technical support of MSS, is now aiming for some strong results to equal the top ten finishes he experienced during the last round a few weeks ago.

“We have changed quite a lot of the bike from the last round to here and the boys have gone away and worked their socks off really and managed to produce everything so that it is almost brand new and Nick from MSS had done a good job as well," said Mainwaring Smart, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the circuit.

"We have come here with everything new but we are off the pace. We need to improve because it is been a little bit rushed with everything being new but as soon as we get everything together we will be a bit further up than we are and we have to chip away.

“Tsingtao have got a package from MSS and decided to keep me running on it and I brought my three mechanics from where I was before and we will see what we can do, but it is early days. We had an issue in qualifying as I had a puncture then I had an issue with the handlebars and then managed to go out for four laps, but that probably ruined the qualifying for us."
