Cadwell BSB: Ryde expected a tough 125GP battle

RS Racing's Kyle Ryde was expecting to battle with his main rivals in the Sunoco British 125GP Championship at Cadwell Park on the Bank Holiday Monday, but instead won the race by an astonishing 14.4 seconds once he took to the front from his second place qualifying position.

The Jacksdale rider continues to impress as he currently sits third in the championship and is still a major contender for the title despite missing a few rounds due to his Red Bull Rookie commitments. There literally is no stopping him.

Ryde has stood on the podium five times so far this year with two second places and three wins putting a mere six points behind him and the new championship leader Wayne Ryan of KRP.  SP125's Rob Guiver slipped to second due to a non-scoring round caused by the chain coming off his Honda at the top of the Mountain.

Ryde said: “The win was great and I felt really chuffed with the result but I felt sad for Ben Gautrey at the same time. I thought I would have been in a fight with Rob and Wayne but after getting into the lead on lap one I had enough pace to pull away from them and keep a good rhythm until the finish.  It's good to be in with a shout of the championship nearing the end of the season but I just want to win races and that's what I will be concentrating on."

Ryde is back on track in the at Misano this weekend for the Red Bull Rookies, when asked how he felt the series was going, he said: “I've got the bike working better for me and hopefully i can have a good result at the last race in Misano and hopefully be asked back again for 2012 where I could push for some wins from the beginning.”
