Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Waters was feeling a tad apprehensive about coming to Cadwell Park for the MCE British Superbike championship, but he put his nerves aside to bag not one, but two top five finishes – in what is his best round so far in mixed conditions.
Waters bagged his first race win in the rain at Brands Hatch, and even though he didn’t reach the podium yesterday he showed that he had the pace to keep up with the leading group - in both the dry race one despite not crossing the line, and wet race two to secure his place in the top five, and to take home some valuable points for his team.
Waters is really bonding with the Suzuki, and his team, and it is evident when out on track that his confidence is growing too. The likeable Aussie hopes to prove to the fans that he is not only a wet weather specialist – but is pretty handy in the dry too.
“I am really pleased with this weekend and to get two top five finishes is pretty good. I was kind of dreading this circuit a little bit, because it was so different. It feels good that I can go fast in the dry too,” said Waters, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
“But in race two in the wet I didn’t go as well as I did in Brands when we had rainy weather conditions, but if it rained again I think I could go a lot faster.
“The bike was set up slightly differently from that round, but it is definitely something we can work on for future races in the rain. But at this track to get two top fives and start on the second row has made me feel really happy.”
