Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati’s Danny Buchan did not focus all his time at the Cartagena Pro-test in Spain trying to put down the fastest lap times, but instead tested out a plethora of brand-spanking new parts on his Panigale.
The rider is now very happy with the improvements that have been made to the Ducati, and the team came to Spain with the aim of trying out new components - and they did just that.
Yesterday the rather tall Essex lad set the second fastest time on the unofficial timesheets with a 1’33.6 and has been on the pace throughout the majority of the four-day test.
His team made some big changes to the Panigale out in Cartagena, which included trying out a new sub frame and tank, which helped up his pace out on the Spanish circuit. Now Buchan, along with his crew will be staying in Spain and making their way to Guadix to conduct further tests on the Ducati.
“The test has been great. We came here with a bike that was all ready to be competitive and we have improved it,” Buchan told bikesportnews.com this evening.
“We spent four days testing various components and getting plenty of laps in and I am very happy with how comfortable I am on the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati. OK - we left second fastest but that was not our aim. Our aim was to test as many parts and settings as we could and we managed that and went fast.
“My crew did a mega job changing the whole bike. We finished the last day with a race simulation which puts me in a happy place - and knowing my fitness is great and all the effort and work that has gone into my fitness programme is paying off. Now we have a day off then we have two days at Guadix where I will have even more time on the bike and I am very happy.”
