Charlie Nesbitt was 'buzzing' with his pole position at Oulton Park

British Superbikes

Charlie Nesbitt set the best British Superbike lap time of the weekend at a drying Oulton Park and claimed pole position.

In a dramatic wet British Superbike Qualifying session at Oulton Park, Charlie Nesbitt was able to secure his first pole position of the season.

The MasterMac Honda rider had been competitive throughout the Free Practice sessions and the Pre-Qualifying session on Friday afternoon.

But when it mattered, the 24-year-old put in the fastest lap time of the weekend and catapulted himself up the order to pole. This was Nesbitt's third pole position in the British Superbike Championship, and his first since Cadwell Park in 2024.

"I am buzzing. I did not know where I ended up after the flag, so I was cruising round giving everyone a wave," Nesbitt told TNT Sports after Qualifying.

"Then I had some people at the last corner giving me the number one, so I am buzzing to be fair. I am really happy we went with the hard wet with five minutes before the end, because it was drying out really fast.

"So, yeah, let's see what we can do in the race."

The Oulton Park circuit was drying out during the Q2 session, and Nesbitt set his best lap time with hard wet tyres due to the track conditions.

He was asked after the session if he was tempted by the intermediates, but he believed the track was too wet under the trees for intermediate tyres.

"I don't know, it was still wet out the back to be fair," he explained.

"Like round under the trees, it is still quite wet, so I think the hard wet was definitely the right option."
