Corner entry speed is priority for Lowry ahead of season opener

Padgett's Honda British Superbike star Ian Lowry has identified that he needs to work on corner entry speed in order to find the final half a second he needs to make his Fireblade a front-runner in this year's championship, which kicks off at Brands Hatch in a fortnight.

The former chef spent two days testing at Snetterton with the rest of the pack and says the team has found a setup which will give a good grip/durability ratio with the new Pirelli SC1 tyre but a bit more speed going in to turns wouldn't go amiss. Lowry managed a 1'50.2 yesterday.

"I think the final half a second or so we need will be found in the bike. I am happy with the way it grips coming out but I could do with something extra going in but that will come. The lap times we have done here I'm happy with so we're pleased and positive," said the Irishman, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track before going to the toilet for the 100th time that hour.
