WFR Honda's Alex Lowes had another winning weekend at Croft British Superbikes and was once again mixing it up with the full FIM-spec Superbikes in both races.
The slightly-older twin was in a scrap with team-mate Glen Richards during race one but pulled clear to find himself in a dice for the lead with the two Samsung Suzukis and Gary Mason's MSS Colchester Kawasaki.
“It’s been another good weekend for us and we’ve made more progress, so I’m happy. Everyone was really unsure of what the weather would do in the first race, but it was declared a wet race so if it had started to rain it wouldn’t have been red-flagged. We decided to go for the safe option with an intermediate front and rear tyre, which was good for two thirds of the race," said Lowes.
"I was looking for a podium finish in the main Superbike class, which would have been amazing, but the front guys were running slick rears, and as it didn’t rain any more, my tyre was completely destroyed by the last few laps. Still, it was great for us to finish fifth and win the Evo class. In race two it was dry. I didn’t get a good start, but managed to get through to eighth place.
"My tyre went off in the last few laps and I just can’t get into the corners good when the grip level goes down, but then we don’t have the electronics on the bike like the main Superbike guys do. I dropped to back of a huge fight for third place and finished 11th, as well as another win in the Evo class, so it’s been another good weekend and I can’t wait for Thruxton.”
