Gearlink Kawasaki's Ben Wilson grabbed his fifth British Supersport win from six starts at Croft today after Billy McConnell's near highside handed him the lead from which he crossed the line with a second in hand.
The pair had scrapped it out for most of the 15-lap race with the Oxford TAG Triumph rider taking top spot at half-distance. McConnell, who has been taking tips from ex-Triumph man Glen Richards, had a massive slide at Sunny In which allowed Wilson through.
The mistake also allowed Padgett's Honda's Steve Plater to catch up and the Lincolnshire veteran put a move on the Aussie, almost running him off the track, on the last lap to take second with McConnell in third.
Plater had to come through a fierce battle between Irishmen Alastair Seeley and Jack Kennedy, on Suzuki and Yamaha respetively, but it was the Relentless man who won out, bagging fourth with Kennedy fifth.
Championship points:
Wilson 138
Kennedy 99
Seeley 89
Plater 72
Young 51
