MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Gary Mason has said he is over the moon that he now has a bike that has proven British Superbike podium pace and all he has to do now, starting this weekend at Croft, is the hard bit of putting it there.
The Lichfield man has so far been unable to transfer his free practice form into qualifying and has found himself fighting through mid-pack to take top-ten finishes but new - and secret - engine parts plus revised gear ratios should make it possible to stand on the box in Yorkshire.
"The bike is mega now and it feels good to know that I have something that is capable of winning, or at least getting on the podium, under me, all I have to do now is the hard bit and put it there," said Mason, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon while actually going to the toilet.
"We changed a lot of stuff before morning warm-up at Oulton and found a load of mechanical grip so we have left those settings in the bike to see if they work straight away at Croft. I think they will and we should be right there from the word go."
