DAO Racing team boss Sommai Nantakoon admits she was ‘shocked’ to see her outfit claim a first-ever British Superbike Championship (BSB) podium at Donington Park.
The team, which has switched from Kawasaki to Honda machinery for the 2025 BSB season, reached a key milestone with Josh Brookes’ run to third place during Race 1 at the Leicestershire circuit.
The team, which has its roots in road racing and has won at the Isle of Man TT, committed its programme entirely to short circuits in 2024 with a view to becoming a bigger player at BSB level.
Having signalled its lofty intentions with the signing of two-time BSB Champion Brookes - who is currently competing at the TT - and race winner Lee Jackson for the 2025 BSB season, Nantakoon is thrilled to see DAO Racing reaping the rewards of its investment.
“I was really shocked at Donington Park that we were on the podium that quickly for the DAO Racing team,” she told the BSB website.
“I am so happy for Josh to do this for himself and the whole team and I need to thank them all for their hard work.
“To be a team owner and have our first podium was a big moment for me, this is my passion and for many years I have followed BSB.
“Now to be in this position to make this dream come true is a very proud moment for myself and Clarissa.
“It is wonderful to be a part of this sport and you just have to dream and we believed in our team and riders and now we are looking forward to Snetterton.”
