Donington BSB: Brookes is ‘the underdog’ this weekend

Milwaukee Yamaha’s Josh Brookes reckons he will need all the bad boy aggression to make his mark on proceedings at this weekend’s Donington Park MCE British Superbike season opener.

The final run in testing at the Leicestershire track had Brookes lower on the timing screen to usual but the YZF-R1 is not much more than a stocker at the moment.

Development parts are in production but they won't be seen for a while yet so for Donington, it's up to Brookes to make the difference.

“It’s not going to be easy with the little testing we have had but the bike is great tool even as standard so we might still be on the podium with some hard work and determination,” said Brookes, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening.

“The package will improve when the race parts, which include fuel tank, swingarm, linkages, engines and the like But for the first two rounds at least it's going to be the art of making the best of what we have.”
