Ireland's Keith Farmer took a superb victory at Donington Park today in the re-run of the cancelled Outlon Park Metzeler National Superstock 600 race. Farmer from Clogher in Northern Ireland had stiff competition from fellow Ulsterman Glenn Irwin who chased him hard for a full ten laps of the Leicestershire circuit.

Starting from pole position Farmer got away well but had Irwin just 0.258secs off the back of him. He had a big moment through Coppice corner and this mistake allowed Irwin to briefly grab the lead, however Farmer wasn’t giving up and promptly regained the lead at the Melbourne Loop. He fended off Irwin’s every move to take his fifth win of the season.

“I got a good start but I got passed through turn one, but Glen ran wide and I got back past him. I held him off for a few laps and then I had a big moment at Coppice and Glen was able to get me on the brakes at Esses. I got back into the lead at the Melbourne Loop and just settled into the race and let it come to me," said Farmer.

"I knew with us both being from Northern Ireland he wouldn’t do anything silly as I’m so close to the title. I just need to be two points clear to lift the title tomorrow. If I manage it then I won’t be on a Superstock bike for the last two rounds, but that is all I can say right now.”
