CN Racing's Glenn Irwin took his second win of the season but his first for his new team at Donington Park in the tenth round of the Metzeler National Superstock 600cc championship this weekend, putting himself back to third overall in the series with second place in sight.
This was only Irwin's second round with the team and talking to www.bikesportnews.com about his win, he said: “I am absolutely delighted, not just with the win but how I was riding. I said to you at Cadwell I was and I carried it onto Donington. Don't get me wrong it was a hard race. CN Racing made quite a few changes but they were positives. All weekend I felt strong.
“In race one I rode quite conservative, I didn't make the passes when they were available to me. I needed the points on the board so I am happy with that now. In race two every opportunity I had to pass I did and obviously got to the front. To lead the race it felt good because I had the pace so it didn't drag and it went quite quick. One minute there were nine laps left and then all of a sudden there was one. The team was delighted, they deserve it for all the work they 've put in. My teammate Taylor Knapp also got a fifth in the Superstock 1000, everybody has worked so hard and put so much in.”
Today Irwin went testing at Silverstone ready for the penultimate round in a couple of weeks, talking about the outcome, he said: “It's been really good. It was very very windy but apart from that we got a good bike setup. I have never been there before and I felt it wasn't a track you could go to to race without being there before. I couldn't get over how wide it was, I am looking forward to going there in a couple of weeks.”
