Donington BSB: Tinmouth ‘nervous’ ahead of works debut

Honda Racing’s Jenny Tinmouth has admitted to be a touch nervous head of her debut on the factory Fireblade at Donington’s MCE British Superbike opener but says she is going to stick to her learning plan.

Tinmouth, who did three days testing at Monteblanco and one day at the Leicestershire circuit last week, is on a steep learning curve and says she has a lot to work on this weekend, even though Donington hasn’t been a great track for her in the past.

“I am a bit nervous but OK. Because I have done a lot of training I didn’t want to overdo it for here so I have eaten well and done a bit of mountain biking,” said Tinmouth, speaking to bikesportnews.com this afternoon.

“I’d like to say this was a good place for a debut but I have always struggled here. It’s not one of my best but that’s not to say we won’t make it one of my best. It’s more learning. The bike is so much better than my old one, I still have to change a lot to suit it.

“There is a quite a lot of me I have to concentrate on in order not to drop into old habits, so I need to focus on what I am doing, what the bike is doing and do a lot of analysis that I have never done before. I’m used to just jumping on and riding.

“All the data is ace. Just talking to Ian (Prestwood, Honda crew chief) meant it was so easy to pinpoint things. Where I am losing time, making time, you can see it straightaway. It takes away a lot of the guesswork when you can see it on the data.”
