GBmoto Kawasaki’s James Ellison will go into Tuesday’s MCE British Superbike official test at Donington Park full of confidence after getting a good base setup with his new bike during six days of testing at Cartagena and Almeria.
The Kendal man says he concentrated on getting the bike right for him at the two Spanish tracks and wasn’t chasing a laptime. He will come up against the whole BSB field at Donington, however, and then again a week later at Snetterton.
“It’s been a really positive six days testing. We’ve covered a lot of miles and managed to test everything we wanted to as we continue to work towards setting the bike up. It’s a completely new machine for both myself and the team so we spent a lot of laps just gathering information on what does and doesn’t work so we know which direction to take the bike,” said Ellison.
The team have been fantastic, we’re all getting on and I’m beginning to feel a lot more comfortable on the bike as I learn the Kawasaki. We weren’t pushing for lap times at either Cartagena or Almeria as we were working on setting up things like the suspension, fuelling and electronics but even with that, we were still able to set some good times, which is really encouraging. The team now have a lot of information to sift through and I’m confident we’re going to have a strong package by the time Brands Hatch rolls around.”
