GBmoto Kawasaki’s James Ellison is facing a race to be fit for this weekend’s second MCE British Superbike round at Oulton Park after scans revealed his Brands crash did more damage than first thought.
The tough Heysham resident slipped off in qualifying and banged his hip but fought back to bag a double podium but in the days after the race, his hip began to hurt excessively and Ellison was only able to do one session at last Friday’s test at the Cheshire circuit.
“After the highs of Brands Hatch it’s definitely been a bit of a tough few days. I was sore for both races, but once the adrenalin kicked in I was relatively OK. After a few days rest things stiffened up and I was in some real pain for our test at Oulton last week,” said Ellison.
“I could only complete one session, before we decided it was best to go for some scans and I’m now working with the BSB Medical Team to try and ease some of the pain and be in a bit of a competitive shape for this weekend.
:The injury is definitely a setback, but with the way the Showdown works if we can get two points scoring finishes here at Oulton then we’ll still be up there and I can rest up in the break before Snetterton to be fit for then.”
