South African Bjorn Estment has signed to ride for the Doodson-backed Appleyard Macadam British Supersport squad and will line up alongside Deane Brown in 2013.
Estment will make the transition from the Superstock 600 class to the Supersport class, where he has past experience from the South African Motorcycle Championship, finishing runner-up in 2009. The 26 year-old finished in the top ten consecutively last year, which is no mean feat in the very competitive Superstock 600 class, especially taking into the consideration it was his first full season of racing in Britain.
"I am extremely excited to get going with Appleyard Macadam with Doodson team. With the experience and knowledge that the team possesses, I'm confident that this year will be a great success and an important learning curve," said Estment.
"My initial goal is to pick up some consistent point scoring results and build my confidence and progress from there. I have enjoyed my time at home in South Africa, putting in plenty of off-season training, but I am now looking forward to returning to the British Isles and getting back on two wheels and down to business, as pre-season testing begins."
The team will also run Dan Kinloch and Matthew Paulo in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 class.
