After a week of drama, Glenn Irwin has been declared fit for the opening British Superbike session of the weekend.
Ahead of the opening British Superbike Free Practice session, Glenn Irwin has been passed to ride in Free Practice One at Thruxton.
After a week of drama surrounding Irwin and his fitness levels, the Northern Irish rider will be out on track on Friday afternoon at Thruxton.
However, he will not be out on his usual Hager PBM Ducati after he parted ways with the team earlier in the week due to 'a point of conflict' over his planned return this weekend.
Instead, the #2 will be out on track on a Nitrous Competitions OMG Racing Yamaha R1 for the first time in his career, alongside his new teammate Kyle Ryde.
But ahead of Free Practice Two, Irwin will have to return to the medical centre to be reviewed again by the BSB Medical Team.
In a brief update shared to British Superbikes' social media, they posted:
"MEDICAL UPDATE: Glenn Irwin has been passed with an initial fit to ride. It has been agreed he will go out in Free Practice 1 and then will be reviewed again by the BSB Medical Team before Free Practice 2."
Irwin is not the only rider to be declared fit ahead of Free Practice One, as Honda Racing UK rider Tommy Bridewell and MasterMac Honda rider Charlie Nesbitt also passed their fitness tests.
However, the Honda riders will not need to be re-assessed after the opening session of the weekend and can continue as normal.
