After undergoing surgery in June, Glenn Irwin has been declared fit to ride and is targeting a return at Thruxton.
Since his Free Practice Three crash on the 21st of June at Snetterton, Glenn Irwin has been stuck on the sidelines and missed Round Four and Five of the British Superbike season.
Irwin has been recovering from surgery on his sacrum (pelvic region) after the crash and recently had teased the idea of a return to racing in August.
The Hager PBM Ducati rider has now confirmed that he will attempt to be back on track on the 8th of August for Round Six of the season at Thruxton.
"Great news today," Irwin said on his social media accounts.
"Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon has examined me and reviewed all the radiology and certified me fit for work!
"I spent the afternoon nutts corner circuit, where I set my fastest lap of the year on my training bike!
"Thanks to my team for all their support, my sponsors, the fans and all the people who assisted in my recovery! See you all at Thruxton!"
During his time away from the series, Irwin has slipped down to 11th in the British Superbike Championship and has had to watch his main title rival, Bradley Ray, win six races.
The Hager PBM Ducati squad also called upon the 2019 British Superbike Champion, Scott Redding, to deputise for Irwin during his recovery. Across the six races that Redding competed in, he claimed a race win and a further podium.
