After further assessments, it has been found that Glenn Irwin fractured his hip socket and pelvis during a crash in Free Practice Three.
Following a crash in Free Practice Three at Snetterton, Glenn Irwin was transferred from the circuit medical centre to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Originally, X-rays were done on his hip and right leg at Snetterton, but nothing was visible. However, after further assessments at the hospital, fractures have been found in Irwin's hip socket and pelvis.
An update from British Superbikes about Irwin's condition read:
"Medical update: Following a CT scan at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, Glenn Irwin has been found to have fractures to his hip socket and pelvis.
"He is in stable condition.
"Glenn will be reviewed tomorrow by the specialist team to decide an ongoing management plan."
The opening race of the weekend occurred at Snetterton this afternoon, which Irwin's title rival, Bradley Ray, dominated.
After missing Race One at Snetterton, Irwin has fallen from second in the Championship to fourth place; he is now 30 points behind Ray.
