HM Plant Honda's pairing of Glen Richards and Josh Brookes will only have one bike in their garage for the 2009 British Superbike season as part of the team's enforced cost cutting measures.
Because of the global economic crisis, the team have been forced to make alterations to their plans, but Honda UK's General Manager Steve Martindale inists they remain committed to British Superbikes.
"Our commitment to British Superbikes remains the same as it was last year but we have had to make some budget decisions," he said. "We have had to cut costs in places which, unfortunately, meant we have to have one bike each for Glen and Josh, and we were forced to make some redundancies."
The decision was made in order to ensure the HM Plant Honda team and all of its riders could continue to remain competitive and title challengers for each of the three British championships in which Honda is competing in 2009.
