Irishman Irwin in search of ride for 2012 season

Irish youngster Glenn Irwin is desperately searching for a ride for the 2012 season after a deal to ride in the European Superstock 600 series fell through at the last minute.

Irwin was due to ride for the Racedays Kawasaki team but unforeseen problems have meant the squad can no longer guarantee him a place so he is on the hunt for a slot in the Euro series or on a litre bike in Britain.

"Gas Racing has had the pleasure of supporting Glenn Irwin from the back end of the 2011 season and are as disappointed as anyone to hear the news from Racedays Kawasaki this week that a lack of funding due to recent events has caused the agreement for Glenn’s 2012 European Superstock 600 ride to be jeopardized," said backer Darryl Tate.

"We feel not only for Glenn but for everyone involved in the situation. Finances are tough in every walk of life at the moment and these things can certainly happen at any given time. Having spoken to Glenn it has become clear that rather than sitting and suffering that we need to be putting his availability back out there to teams in the hope of securing something for this season all be it very late on in the day. Obviously the perfect scenario would be that this news brings Racedays Kawasaki a much needed sponsor, so while there is time there is hope.

"Last season was Glenn’s first sight at the BSB circuits in which he won races and finished a creditable runner up in the BSB Stock 600 series. Then Glenn wild carded in European Stock 600 for CN Racing having never seen Portimao and managed to put the bike on the front row. Runners up spot in the Sunflower 600 trophy race followed against the likes of Sam Lowes, Jack Kennedy and British Champion Alastair Seeley.

"On paper Glenn’s times on his home circuits stack up with anyone riding at the moment and having proved his adaptability to going to new tracks and producing results it’s a massive shame he sits here without a ride. He has trained hard all winter with Alastair seeley and going by his recent fitness tests at the N.I Sports institute he is in the shape of his life. I am hoping a door or two might open but understand the timing is not great."
