Young Irishman Glenn Irwin has split with the Mar-Train Yamaha Motorpoint British Supersport squad and remaining rider Stuart Easton will now go it alone in the team.

Both sides have taken pains to point out the separation is mutual with team principal Tim Martin saying he is disappointed to have had to come to this decision.

“It’s always disappointing to have to make such decisions in the middle of a season, but having discussed it with Glenn and his personal sponsors, we feel it’s the correct decision at this time for Mar-Train Racing and Glenn Irwin," he said.

“Glenn has been involved with us for a number of seasons, making ad-hoc appearances in Mar-Train Racing colours – so we are very fond of him – but the motorsport paddock is a fast moving industry and this will allow both parties to pursue their chosen goals for the remainder of the year un-interrupted.

“We wish Glenn every success but would like to reiterate, that we will not be actively searching for a replacement. Our main focus will be on the remaining three rounds and doing our best to win the championship with Stuart Easton.”
