circuit in Lincolnshire.

Riding for the recently formed MWR Kawasaki team, Gautrey was competing in the Metzeler

National Superstock 600 race for 600cc road based machines at the weekend-long British

Superbike event.

The 18 year old Southport rider was involved in an incident during the opening lap of the

race during which he sustained what turned out to be fatal injuries. The race was halted

immediately for treatment to be administered and the full circumstances of the incident are

now being investigated by the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board (MCRCB) and the

Ross Burridge, Racing Coordinator for Kawasaki Motors UK, offered the company’s

condolences saying; “Ben was marked out as prodigious young talent destined for greater

things in the sport he had chosen and loved to compete in.

"Racing for a satellite team such as MWR, he was already making a very positive impression

and stood a very good chance of receiving a ride with one of our officially supported

Kawasaki teams in future. All of us at Kawasaki join racing fans across the UK in offering our

condolences to Ben’s family and the loved ones of this highly regarded young man”.
