Kennedy blighted by ‘electrical problems’ in Spain

Team WD-40’s Jack Kennedy wants to use day three of the Pro-Test session in Cartagena to put down some much needed lap times. Yesterday proved problematic as electrical issues meant he could not go out on track as much as he wanted, as the Kawasaki kept cutting out on him after one lap. But the Dubliner is confident that the problems have now been rectified and is looking forward to getting out in Spain today.

The former World Supersport contender is making his move full time in to the MCE British Superbike Championship this year and is now going to use the rest of the time today to really get a feel for the ZX-10 and to start gelling with it. He wants to feel comfortable and hopes that he won’t be niggled with teething problems for the rest of the weekend.

“We have some teething problems to say the least and we haven’t had a lot of track time at the minute, but the problems appear to have been solved as the team have worked hard to come through it. I am gelling with the bike a little and I am getting used to riding a Superbike again,” said Kennedy, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“We had some electrical problems as the bike kept cutting out and I was only getting one lap in and then it kept shutting down and it took a while to solve the problem. But the boys have got there in the end and we can get on with doing laps, as I need time on the bike.

“I am excited to start the championship, and I enjoyed being in World Supersport for two years but I wanted to make the transition to the Superbike class, which I have now done. I have a new mechanic Michael Gallagher and I want to do well and I am going to make the Showdown and that’s my goal. I want a trouble free year and I won’t be holding back fighting for podiums either.”
