Samsung Honda's Ryuichi Kiyonari finally returned to the good form which has been missing all season. The rider made it on to the podium twice after coming away with two third place finishes in the MCE British Superbike races at Knockhill this afternoon. The rider is now happy with his results and his bike, and hopes to improve for the rest of the season.
It appears that the triple champ has had a turn around in fortunes and has come back to the series a new rider, after spending a few weeks back at home in Japan with his family. The results propel Kiyo to seventh in championship standings, giving him an advantage of making it into the Showdown stages, and the rider knows just how important the next couple of months will be for his championship chances.
“These results are important for the championship. I was thinking I can not crash because of the Showdown so that is why I tried to finishing the race, so I am very happy. We changed the bike to a bit of a different setting, but it is difficult to make a good lap time but it much better than the last three rounds,” said Kiyonari.
“I am very happy for this podium and the performance this weekend. Both me and the bike have changed, and want to say thank you to the mechanics, team and sponsor which have helped me so hard and I am very happy.
“For this weekend my performance is OK but I will try and improve on this performance and try to get many podiums for the rest of the season.”
