KNOCKHILL BSB: BROWN HOLDS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD

AGB Transport/Packet Media Ltd’s Robbie Brown managed to retain his championship lead in the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Cup category this weekend at Knockhill after suffering a huge crash forcing an emergency rebuild of his Yamaha R6.
Brown who has moved up to the category after finishing second in the Superstock 600 last season finally took the championship lead at the fifth round.  He became the third rider to take the top spot in addition to major title contenders Dean Hipwell and Sam Lowes.  The battle is far from over in what is proving to be one of the hottest seasons yet.
Even though Lowes gained a few points back this weekend Brown finished second in the cup achieving a stunning result after suffering a high speed crash that severely damaged his bike making it a busy and more challenging weekend for the Biddulph rider and his team.
Following the bike smashing incident Brown’s next time out on track was in the first qualifying session in which further crash damage was discovered so it wasn’t until final qualifying that he was back to full confidence with the machine.  The result wasn’t as well as hoped but it was great damage limitation.
Brown said: “We’ve had a tough start with the engine, we never thought we would be we where we are under the circumstances and the problems we have had. It’s a really tough very expensive series, even though there are less riders it is so close.”
“It’s been a big learning curve and we have no data to work with as it’s a new championship.  At the start of the year we didn’t’ have the budget to complete the year, but hopefully we have now.  It depends on the engine, if that goes it won’t be cheap.  If we crash it's not cheap.  We should see the season through though.”
“The target was to win the cup and we’re on target, I would like top 15 if not top 10.  I am not thinking of the championship as such, I am concentrating round by round.  I would like to thank Gary at AGB motorsport for staying loyal, Packet Media who is also my boss, and connect insurance.”
