Knockhill BSB: Hill comfortable with pole pace

Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill says he is comfortable with his efforts in today's British Superbike qualifying session at Knockhill, parking his YZF-R1 on pole when it looked like he was going out in the second session like team-mate Michael Laverty.

Hill was mired down in 12th when he found some pace on wet tyre and hauled himself back inside the top ten, the going on to set the fastest lap of the day while Laverty is mid-pack after gambling not to go back out.

"It is great to be back on pole for Swan Yamaha as it was turning into a bit of a gamble in the second session with the tyre choice again and at one point I was a bit worried as I was outside the top ten," said Hill.

"We went out, I was feeling comfortable and basically we got the job done. We made a good start in the final session and I feel happy that we have the pace not only in qualifying but over race distance. It has been a good end to the day so hopefully we can keep it up tomorrow."
