Mar-Train Yamaha's Stuart Easton crashed out of the Motorpoint British Supersport qualifying this morning, resulting in a fifth row grid start for the local hero. The Hawick rider is left disappointed in himself after the off, admitting 'he should know better' than to push in damp conditions.
The championship contender is remaining confident, however, saying that the strength of his Mar-Train Yamaha will help him make his way through the field in this afternoon's sprint race.
"It was drizzling early on in the session and I went quickest, then it started to drizzle a little bit more. I knew I had to keep the heat in the tyres and get maybe one more lap in before the rain comes. I lost the front at the second corner, the first left hander and crashed. It's disappointing, I should know better," said the wee Scotsman, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
"The conditions in the end got better and I dropped way back to fourteenth on the grid. It's going to be a mid-pack start, which is going to be hard. It's always hard to pass here anyway so we'll see how it goes. The bike is quick so if I can pass a few on the straight it always makes it easier. Hopefully it will be a dry race, I'll pass as many as I can and see where I end up."
