Knockhill BSB: Palmer bags another Superstock 1000 win

GBMoto's Tristan Palmer bagged another win in the Metzeler National Superstock Championship at Knockhill on Sunday and steal the championship lead from MSS Kawasaki's Danny Buchan.

Vastly-experienced Palmer used his head in the re-started race on Sunday after grabbing a big lead, he started to feel some vibrations in his Honda Fireblade and eased off. Another red flag after three-quarters distance saw Palmer crowned the victor.

"We started off first practice in the wet and I just got into it as best as I could. We found a decent setting on the bike and I felt quite good. In the very wet first qualifying session, I went out, got up to speed and put in the quickest lap. I came in to pit lane then to save the tyre," said Palmer.

"When I'd dropped to second I went back out. Unfortunately, I touched the curb coming out of the tight right hander at the bottom of the hill and highsided. I knew exactly what I had done and it didn't bother me that much, even though I'd crashed.

"I took my time getting into the second qualifying session. The conditions were wet, but drying. I waited and waited, then in the last five minutes got my head down and was back up to second. Today was dry, but we had no dry setup, however most of the riders were in the same position. The bike felt really good and I was happy. I knew I could go quicker again.

"After the race restart, I grabbed the holeshot and pushed as hard as I could for the first part of the race. I broke the lap record numerous times, which I'm also really pleased about. Then I felt like I had a few little problems with the bike, so I backed off as I had a big lead already. When the red flags came out again I had scored another perfect result."
