Metmachex backed Kyle Ryde took his second consecutive Monster Energy Motostar Championship victory in dramatic circumstances after a Safety Car and a red flag halted the race early.
SP125’s Bradley Ray took the hole shot from pole position and he was closely followed by fellow Red Bull Rookie Jordan Weaving. After making a poor start from the front row Ryde began to carve his way through the field, first going past Joe Irving to fourth and then Tarran Mackenzie to third.
The leading duo opened out a 2.5 second lead over Ryde before the Safety Car came out closing up the field.
As the Safety Car pulled in drama ensued with both Weaving and Ryde going past Ray on the start/finish line. Ryde then moved into the lead going past Weaving into the last corner and as they exited Weaving high-sided, leaving his bike in the middle of the track. Both Ray and Hedger were left with nowhere to go put hit the stricken bike and the red flag was therefore brought out. The victory was handed to Ryde who is now just 4 points behind Hedger’s Championship lead.
Tarran Mackenzie was elevated to second claiming his first ever podium with Joe Francis given as third. Francis was later given a two second penalty for over-taking the safety car and consequently Catherine Green was given third and her first ever podium finish.
Phillip Wakefield was fourth followed by Tom Carne and Francis was demoted to sixth. Callum Bey was seventh with Ryan Watson relegated to eighth after being handed the same penalty as Francis. Robert English was ninth with American Xavier Zayat rounding out the top ten.
