Tyco Suzuki’s PJ Jacobsen is pleased that he was able to come away from Knockhill with his best weekend to date in the MCE British Superbike championship. But because of his small stature he felt he struggled with the physical nature of the Scottish circuit, which left the rider feeling a bit tense.

The New Yorker finished race one in ninth, but arm pump issues prevented the 19 year-old from progressing further, after finding himself as high as sixth in the early stages. But the diminutive rider did improve for the final race of the day in Scotland, and crossed the finishing line in seventh, after out battling Buildbase BMW’s Jon Kirkham and GBmoto’s Peter Hickman for the extra points. But the rider did find the track very physical, especially as he felt the circuit did not suit the smaller rider’s like him.

“After a good qualifying and getting up to sixth in race one I got a little bit tense and suffered arm pump, so I was disappointed to drop down to ninth,” said Jacobsen.

“Race two was a lot better and I was able to hold off the guys behind me. To come away with two top ten finishes at the most physical track I’ve ever ridden at is quite pleasing.

“There is absolutely no rest at this place and it’s maybe not a track to suit the smaller riders like myself, but you have to ‘man-up’ and today I think I’ve done that.”
