Kyle Ryde discusses his 'great start' at Cadwell Park

Kyle Ryde set the pace at the end of Free Practice Two on Saturday at Cadwell Park as he set his fastest lap at the circuit.

On the opening day of the British Superbike race weekend at Cadwell Park, it was the Nitrous Competitions Racing rider Kyle Ryde who was on top of the timesheets.

The 2024 British Superbike Champion started the opening day of Practice in second place in Free Practice One, but at the end of Free Practice Two, he topped the times.

Ryde revealed that he had many changes to his Yamaha R1 with his team throughout the day, but the changes they had made have been 'positive' and allowed him to set his fastest lap time at Cadwell Park.

"I rode my bike really well today on used tyres, and I surprised myself on new tyres," Ryde said after topping the times on Friday.

"It has been a great day, I think the test yesterday [Friday] actually helped slightly. I am getting used to this track again; the width of it is crazy compared to Thruxton, where we just came from two weeks ago.

"It took a bit of calibrating in the brain and the eyes, but like I said, I have had a great day. On used tyres, I have been really strong; I thought my Achilles heel would be my one-lap pace, but I am fastest on Day One.

"Everything we have done today has been really good. We have done a few things to the bike, and everything has been really positive. So, thanks to all my team, they have done a great job.

"The fastest lap was just a bonus, and it was my fastest lap of Cadwell Park as well. So, a great start to the Bank Holiday weekend at Cadwell."
