Morgan puts MSS Kawasaki BSB involvement on ice

MSS Kawasaki owner Nick Morgan has put his team's racing plans on ice for at least 12 months and will not contest the 2013 MCE British Superbike Championship.

Morgan, who this year ran Michael Rutter and Danny Buchan, has made the decision after agonising over it for the past couple of months and says that budget problems have forced his hand.

"I always use the football analogy but over the past few years in BSB, it has been like trying to beat Manchester United using Southampton's budget. We have been in the paddock since the early 90s but I have had to call it quits, at least for this year, as we just can't compete," said Morgan, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

"We have been on the podium and done well sometimes in qualifying, but I always knew it would be hard when it came to the race as we had no money for any meaningful testing, so we were always on the back foot. My heart really wants to go back into it this year but my head says otherwise.

"I think taking a year out will be good for us. We can then have a look at how we run things. I need to concentrate on our performance business more as I took my eye off the ball a little bit, so that will be my main focus, but I hope we will be back.

"Thanks to everyone who has helped us up until this point, they know who they are and it wouldn't have been possible without them."
